Future
Although there were some pretty interesting and totally untrue predictions of the future made 100 years ago, such as walking 10 miles a day, removing letters C, Q, and X, or being able to regrow limbs, there were some pretty accurate ones. For example, we do have bigger fruits thanks to GMO's, humans have gotten taller, trains have become increasingly faster, and people are able to make phone calls from around the world. 50 years ago, it was clear that people were really focused on solar powered vehicles taking over the world with the solar powered cars and airplanes. To me, some of the 100 year predictions were not wish list but rather predictions. I feel like no one would wish to remove certain letters from an alphabet (unless someone has some serious animosity about those letters). However many others seemed to be wishes such as communicated from anywhere in the world, people walking 10 miles a day, and having a really fast train. It seems to me that many people in the past were hoping (or at least predicting) that humans would become healthier, eating larger fruits and walking longer distances. In reality we have actually become lazier with the obesity rate increasing and people becoming significantly less active (though there has been a push to increase activity with the invention of smart watches).
In 100 years, I predict that robots will have taken over the jobs of millions or even billions. I think robots will become so sophisticated that it will have taken over the jobs of surgeons. In addition, I really believe that all new cars being made in 100 years will be self driving and there will be no need for street lights; cars will be able to talk to each other.
Secondly, I believe the advancements in medicine will reduce chances significantly of disease like Parkinson's or cancer. However, I also believe that we will also accidentally create disease that will be incredibly difficult to eliminate. Create brand new and powerful antibiotics almost makes a certainty that a super virus will form.
Finally, I believe that we have to start looking for new ways to live life beyond Earth. I believe that pollution in big cities will significantly increase, making certain cities uninhabitable. In addition, predicting that our population will exceed 10 billion by 2118 (the maximum population that can be supported by Earth, we will have a shortage of food, water, and space on Earth. We will be forced to start digging in Earth (similarly to what's already being done in Japan) or go to Mars or another celestial body. I know its bleak, but I foresee Earth ending up as the Earth shown in the movie Interstellar.
